Here are some more pictures of me and my friends in Tanzania. I’m away on my intermediate (!) Swahili training course at the moment so I am able to go on the internet – woohoo! Not that I can think of anything interesting to tell you. The pace of life here, mixed with my general confusion over the way things work here and Tanzanian beaurocracy mean that I still haven’t done a whole lot of work. However, teacher training workshops are due to start when I get back in two weeks, so lets hope the teachers come!
As some of you know I have been pretty lonely out here since the other volunteer didn’t show up, but I am now pleased to say that I have some friends. There is a group of students building a playground up at the Christian centre and I’m planning to go and stay with them when I get back from language training. It also has been a real break to catch up with the other volunteers here at the training and mix with lots of people that speak English! One of the other volunteers has even been teaching me capoeira. It’s like dance/martial art (from Brazil) with lots of kicking and is great fun.
Tomorrow I go to Dar and then back to my placement. Teacher workshops start on Friday, please pray they go well! I am hoping to find teachers who will continue running them after I go.
More cool animals that I’ve seen in Tanzania:
1. Chameleon (probably one of the strangest creatures I’ve ever seen!)
2. Tortoises
3. Snakes (mostly dead and the live one was quickly killed)
4. baby goats!

God bless, Bry x
Hi Annie
Great to see your latest pictures – was the ice cream to wash down the baby goat stew?
Whatever you’re eating out there (probably not baby goats, actually) you’re looking very well on it. Great to see all those kids having a good time, too – are they laughing at your ‘high-score’ on a computer game in the other picture (the one that says you’re working – hmm)??
Seriously, if you’re going to be photoed with those cool animals you list, I’d stick with the baby goats and go easy on the snakes. Tortoise is ok too, but you might lose the chameleon against the background of your jumper.
Loads of love

Hey Anna,
Glad you are getting on ok, looks amazing – and scary at the same time. You are so brave!! (or mad?!)
How rude was Bry – ‘looks like you are eating well’ what does he mean eh? Hope he wasn’t implying that you have eaten too many baby goats! how rude.
Anyway, glad you are safe and well.
Take care,
Amanda.x
Hope the workshops are going well and that the teachers are turning up.
I am really looking forward to being with you in November.
Have a great time in Uganda!
lots of love, Mum xxx
I am glad you had time to update the blog before flying back. Thinking of you lots especially as I can now picture everybody and where you are.
God bless and have a great time.
I couldn’t work out how to add a comment to your “6 months later” posting so I’ll add it here. Glad to hear you are well and obviously enjoying the African experience. I’ve been trying to get in touch with you over the past few months to invite you to my wedding on the 4th April. Does your extended stay in Tanzania mean you won’t be able to make it?
Bry x
